Hugh Morris, Managing Director of England Cricket, believes home support could prove vital ahead of the busiest season of cricket ever seen on these shores.

"On behalf of everyone involved in England Cricket I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support and welcome you to the start of what promises to be one of the most exciting seasons of international cricket ever seen in England and Wales.

"We start the summer with an npower Test Series against West Indies and under the captaincy of Andrew Strauss and leadership of Andy Flower the players have been training extremely hard since meeting up earlier in the week. After coming so close earlier in the year the guys are looking forward to having an opportunity to regain the Wisden Trophy after suffering a Series defeat in the Caribbean.

"Without doubt we have the most committed and passionate fans in world cricket, much to the envy of our opponents. I know from talking to the players they’re extremely grateful for this support not just here but all over the world. Wherever we travelled in the Caribbean last winter there were England fans cheering us on and this never fails to inspire the team.

"We all see Test cricket as the ultimate challenge, where legends are created and records broken. As we head through the summer your support will be vital, as it was in 2005, and together I hope we can relive those fantastic scenes of four years ago."
