Pakistan v. Sri Lanka

Pakistan v Sri Lanka Test Series in UAE 2013/2014

Sharjah CA Stadium, Sharjah: Thursday 16 January 2014 10:00 (day 5 of 5)

Toss: Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat.

Result: Pakistan win by 5 wickets

Pakistan 2nd innings

End of Over 58 (3 runs)
Bowler: Shaminda Eranga
Pakistan: 302-5 (rr 5.21)

57.3
One Run
Eranga to Niazi. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot Steer, to backward point for 1 run, shy attempt by Chandimal. And there is it. Pakistan have made the improbable a reality. No one expected Pakistan to win this game and after the morning session when Sri Lanka extended their lead it looked even more unlikely. It is fitting that Misbah hits the winning runs. There are jubilant scenes in the ground. Sri Lanka look dejected and many questions will be asked about the captaincy of Mathews, however they have performed very well in the series and they can take many positives. Pakistan continue their record of not losing a Test series in the UAE and at the same time successfully chase a fourth innings target of 300 or more for the second time in their history. Fantastic scenes and another reminder of why Test cricket remains the ultimate form of the game. The series finishes 1-1.

57.2
Bye
Eranga to Shafiq. Short, outside off stump backing away, to wicketkeeper for no runs, mis-fielded by Jayawardene. The keeper spills it and Misbah is alert and takes a bye.
