Bangladesh v. New Zealand

Bangladesh v New Zealand ODI Series 2013

Narayanganj Osmani Stadium, Fatullah: Sunday 3 November 2013 09:15 (day 1 of 1)

Toss: Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl.

Result: Bangladesh win by 4 wickets

Bangladesh 1st innings

End of Over 50 (4 runs)
Bowler: Mitchell McClenaghan
Bangladesh: 309-6 (rr 6.18)

49.2
Four Runs
FOUR! McClenaghan to Gazi. Short, middle stump on the back foot cutting, well timed in the air under control past deep backward point for 4 runs.

There it is! Victory and a whitewash for Bangladesh! Gazi stretches high above his head to smear the ball over point for the boundary that wins the game.

What a game we have had to finish off this series. At the beginning of the day Rahim won the toss and elected to field, more than likely having a plan to concede less than the 307 New Zealand racked up. Although the opening partnership got them off to a good start, the main contributions came from Colin Munro and Ross Taylor. Munro's 85 coming off just 77 balls as part of a 130 partnership with his partner. Taylor then took over at the fall of Munro's wicket, smashing the ball to all parts to finish off the innings

The response from Bangladesh was obvious, to go hard at the ball in the powerplay, get ahead of the rate and stay there. It worked to perfection, with Shamsur Rahman going on to make 96 off 107 balls which earned him the player of the match award. Mominul, Naeem Islam and Nasir all then played their part in chasing down the total, with the final stroke coming from Sohag Gazi, capping off a wonderful month for him.

New Zealand probably won't be too quick to return to Bangladesh for ODI's. This is the second successive series that they have been whitewashed there and they must pick up their spirits before visiting Sri Lanka later in the month.

Controversy! McClenaghan puts in a short one that Nasir tries to scoop over the keepers head. The ball either clips the gloves or shoulder or both and goes through to the keeper. The umpire gives the decision out as long as the ball has carried and with confirmation from the third umpire, he is on his way! Game on!

He should know better than that. Firstly he has played a horrendous shot, coming down the track and swiping at the ball, before taking on McClenaghan from the boundary and being run out by a couple of yards. Poor from Naeem, he'll be angry with that.
