Cayton get new all-weather facility
A new all-weather facility has been opened at Cayton CC in Scarborough.
During the last three years, Cayton CC have been working very closely with primary schools in the local community with the support from The Lord’s Taverners ‘CitiCricket’ Project, which has helped considerably in educating additional coaches, purchasing of equipment for the club and schools and funding coaches to conduct coaching visits in the schools.
The club also needed a net facility, due to the increase in participation created by the CitiCricket project.
Andrew Watson the YCB Director of Development along with Ian Powell the Cricket Development Manager for North Yorkshire officially opened the facilities, which was part funded by The Lord’s Taverners Grant Aid Scheme for Nets and Non-Turf Pitches.
Steve Mcaleese, lead coach from Cayton CC, said: “The support from the YCB and help with funding through the Lord’s Taverners has provided the club with fantastic opportunity to sustain and develop the junior section.”
Watson said: “On behalf of the Yorkshire Cricket Board, we wish to thank The Lord’s Taverners most sincerely for their fantastic support for the CitiCricket Projects within Yorkshire.
“It has lifted the profile immensely, increased participation and we have been able to create and sustain links across clubs and communities throughout the Yorkshire Region with Key Partners.
“The new net facility will provide a fantastic opportunity to develop the Citicricket project even further.”
