Training Methods Workshop

This 2-3 hour workshop has been designed to help coaching assistants manage (under direct supervision from a more qualified coach) players within a net environment. It will also enable coaching assistants to consider when players would benefit from working in the nets as well as providing alternative training activities.

Pre-requisites for attending the Training Methods Workshop are: ECB Level 1 (pre 2004) or Coaching Award (pre 1997) or Coaching Assistant (UKCC1) & a valid First Aid Certificate, a Safeguarding and Protecting Children Certificate and a current CRB clearance.

It will enable coaching assistants to:

• manage a net (under direct supervision from a more qualified coach)

• understand the advantages and disadvantages of working in a net environment

• run alternative activities in a net environment

• introduce, run and adapt a cricket circuit

• introduce, run and adapt Pairs cricket

Pathway

After completing the course Coaching Assistants may wish to consider attending the ECB Coach course (UKCC2)

Questions

Will Coaching Assistants be insured to work in a net environment having attended the course?

Coaching Assistants will be covered if they are a member of the ECB CA and ‘Assist under direct supervision a more qualified cricket coach in managing in a net environment’

NOTE: ‘Direct supervision’ in this instance means that the more qualified cricket coach will be present and leading the coaching session
