Cash boost for Essex disability cricket
Essex Cricket has won a £10,000 grant from ‘Awards for All’ to help set up disability sections in five local clubs.
Braintree, Frinton, Gidea Park and Romford, Springfield and Belhus will benefit from the investment, providing more disabled cricketers with the chance to play cricket, while helping the clubs deliver coaching sessions to schools.
Tracey Davies, cricket development manager in Essex, said: “It is great to see cricket for those with disabilities begin to develop in the county.
“We would like to thank the Essex Cricket Disability Steering Group and all partners involved, such as sportessex’s Sam Bull, English Federation of Disability Sport’s Mark Healy, competitions manager Alison Gurner, local authority sport development officers, the volunteers, and particularly the clubs themselves for embracing this exciting project.”
