England Blind Team

England Blind Team meet Richie Benaud during last winter's Blind Ashes series they won Down Under

England’s Blind Team are are hoping to repeat their 2-1 victory in 2006 when they do battle with reigning world champions Pakistan in August.

Three years ago all-time leading run scorer Nathan Foy produced a fantastic innings of 200 to win the final match and seal the series.

Matt Dean's England will be hosting their sub-continent counterparts for a three-match ODI series based in the West Midlands and will also lock horns in the first Twenty20 blind international.

The one-dayers will take place between the August 11-15 in Solihull, Edgbaston and New Road, Worcester.

England will be looking to inaugural disabled cricketer of the year Foy to lead the England batsmen against arguably the best blind bowling attack in the world. Poised on nine centuries, double figures in this respect would mark both a great personal accolade and a huge boost for England’s chances.

However, England have strength in depth and Foy will be assisted by a cohort of talented batsmen. Andy Powers has amassed 875 runs in just 20 matches while Luke Sugg and Heindrich Swanepoel, the most senior player in the team with 51 matches, have notched up 2,000 runs between them.

In the bowling, Powers, Foy, Swanepoel and Sugg will again lead the way having taken 61 wickets between them. They will be backed by John Garbett who has taken six wickets in as many games.
