Below you can find profiles of the members of the ECB Disability Management Committee below:
Ian Martin
Has been a cricket nut since he was a child - his father's fault! Because of his disability he found it easier to throw a ball for Ian to hit rather than to try and kick one around with him, and Ian has loved the game ever since!
Ian has been involved in disability cricket since 2000 when his own disability deteriorated to the extent where he couldn’t play the mainstream game any longer. His involvement has been as both a player and an administrator in Wales and nationally with the BACD. He left the Welsh disabled cricket set-up when he took on the Chairmanship of the BACD from colleague Peter Edmondson.
Prior to joining ECB as National Disability Cricket Manager Ian was employed as a Disability Sport Development Officer in Conwy, North Wales, which gave him the experience he needed to position himself for his current role at ECB.
He has worked with all impairment groups and encountered the barriers to participation that each group experience: "I’ve been fortunate enough to manage the ECB’s Learning Disability Team and I’m very proud to Chair the Disability Management Committee on behalf of ECB and to work so closely with such an experienced and committed group of volunteers."
Miles Northwood
I have been involved in Blind Cricket for the past 18 years, both as a volunteer administrator and as a player and management official from school to international level.
Having played International Blind Cricket since 1997, I have 10 years experience of both playing the game and the essential functions required to make it happen at the highest level.
As International Secretary since 2004, initially for British Blind Sports Cricket Committee and latterly for Blind Cricket England and Wales (BCEW), I have had the pleasure of organising several International Series both at home and abroad.
Also over the last two years I have sat on the World Blind Cricket Council as Atlantic regional development director until at the AGM held at Lord's in October 2007 I moved posts to cover Europe instead.
Outside of cricket, I have also tried my hand with greater or lesser degrees of success and, or enjoyment at, sailing, skiing, rowing, water skiing, ice skating, horse riding, athletics and cycling.
Over the years my guitar has also proved to be a great passport to all sorts of activities and people.
Peter Edmondson
Peter Edmondson is President of BACD, having chaired the charity for several years. He was one of the driving forces behind the introduction of the ECB County Championship for players with physical and learning disability.
He is also currently chairing the sub-committee which is looking at classification procedures for players with all impairment forms to enable participation of as many players as possible on a fair and equitable basis.
As well as his responsibilites on the Disability Management Committee, Peter helped to pilot and develop the ECBCA module for coaching players with disabilities and currently manages the England Learning Disability team.
Prior to his retirement, he worked for the English Federation of Disability Sport as the Lancashire Disability Sport Officer and before that was involved for many years in developing cricket for young people, women and girls and players with disabilities in Lancashire.
Dick Wildgoose
Dick has been involved in disability cricket since 1989. After watching a demonstration given by the blind at the Association of Cricket Coaches Conference at Lilleshall, he introduced the game to a PHAB group at Centre North West in Oswestry.
He is involved with the Oswestry Disabled Team. They play in the Indoor Shropshire League. He is President of the Shropshire Disabled Cricket Association.
He is also chairman of both the CFPD and the ECB Midlands Disability Forum.
Fred Wildgoose
Fred started working with Dick developing cricket for the disabled in 1989.
He is involved with the Oswestry Disabled Cricket Team and on the committee of the Shropshire Disabled Cricket Association.
He holds the position of Director of Operations for the CFPD and is responsible for raising the £250,000 needed by the CFPD to date.
He is also on the ECB Midlands Forum.
Jeff Levick
Jeff is a self-confessed cricket nut. A coach for over 30 years with experience at club, county age group and national disability levels.
Ten years as coordinator for disabled cricketers in Hampshire, with experience of working with and developing opportunities for players with learning difficulties, physical difficulties, visual impairment and deaf.
He is chairman of the South Region Disabilities forum. Received BBC South Community Champion Award in 2007 for work with special schools.
David Gavrilovic
David's love of cricket has taken him from hitting his little sister Emma's bowling over their garden fence to lifting the national league trophy as captain of Northamptonshire, to being the blind cricket version of Mark Nicholas at the last few blind cricket cup finals at Lord's.
He has enjoyed being able to help other players get these kind of opportunities by helping form clubs, provide equipment for people to play the game and introducing young boys and girls to the game of cricket.
David finds nothing more satisfying in sport than giving a formerly sighted person the chance to play sport again.
He has played blind cricket since 1995 and has been involved in the admin side of the game since 2004 for British Blind Sport and ECB.
He is captain and chairman of Northamptonshire and has fulfilled most of his cricketing ambitions. His two major remaining ambitions are to play in a Lord's cup final and to score a fifty in any match.
His biggest on-field achievements have been hitting former West Indies Test cricketer Alvyn Kallicharran for four and lifting the 2006 league trophy.
Peter Dixon
Peter is a solicitor in private practice and is a member of Southport & Birkdale Cricket Club.
Appointed as Vice Chairman of The England Cricket Association for The Deaf in January 2008, Peter has been involved with Deaf Cricket since 2005 and assisted the management of the touring party in an administrative capacity during the World Cup for Deaf Cricketers held in India in November 2005.
