Andy gives the Langley Mill United players some advice

Langley Mill United CC’s title chances have been given a huge boost thanks to a coaching session from the very top - by England Team Director Andy Flower.

The 'Millers', pushing for glory in the Derbyshire County Cricket Division 3 North League, were put through their paces by the Ashes-winning coach at Old Trafford after winning a competition at the Sky Sports Coaching Zone being held at the ECB’s npower Cricket in the Park events throughout the summer.

In what could be a year of triumph for the club, with also the 2nd XI bidding for and the 3rd XI already having won promotion in their respective leagues, Langley Mill United had a unique opportunity for their players to learn from the top coach in the country!

Andy took the Millers' players through some batting and fielding drills before holding a Q&A session, where he passed on tips about how best to approach the remaining crucial phase of the season.

Andrew Bailey, Langley Mill United's captain, said: "It was an amazing feeling to have the England Team Director offering us tips just days after winning the Ashes.

"The boys are buzzing and I hope it will be the catalyst for a final push to conclude a successful season for the club."

Flower is an ambassador for the Sky Sports ECB Coach Education scheme, which has trained over 13,000 new coaches since 2006, more than double originally targeted for.

He said: "It is great to see how keen and dedicated the guys from Langley Mill United were, and I wish them well for the remainder of the season - hopefully I will have been some help!!"
