Bradfield School were the winner's of the Essex Primary School Girl's Asda Kwik Cricket Festival held at Chelmsford

Bradfield School triumphed in this year’s Essex Primary School Girl’s Asda Kwik Cricket Festival held last Wednesday, July 1, at the Ford County Ground.

Sixteen teams took part in the regional competition, staged in Chelmsford, just a day after the back-to-back NatWest Series fixtures between England women and Australian women were held.

Stifford Clays, Holt Farm and Woodside were the remaining three schools to reach the semi-finals alongside Bradfied, who contested the final with Holt Farm from Rochford.

Dave Letch, the Essex cricket development officer for women and girls cricket, said: “This has been a fantastic year for this competition, we have gone from six schools four years ago entering this event to over 60 this year.

“There is no doubt that the success of the England women’s team has heightened the interest in the women’s game.”
