A night on the tiles
Whilst Dinton CC enjoyed unprecedented success on the field last season, the club are working hard to ensure that it is not just a flash in the pan.
In 2009 the first XI won promotion to the Home Counties Premier League for the first time in its illustrious history. The club also boasts five senior sides (three Saturday and two Sunday) but more importantly than that the future looks bright with a junior section of more than 160 juniors between six-17 years old, including an under-13 girls’ team.
To support the strong playing section, passionate club members have spent the winter months refurbishing parts of the clubhouse. The club recently received a huge boost when they were selected by Topps Tiles as their chosen community project nationally for 2010. Seventeen of Topps Tiles directors and senior management staff will donate and fit the clubhouse with top of the range stock on Thursday March 25th.
The Topps Tiles re-fit is perfect timing for the NatWest CricketForce weekend on March 27th-28th when a volunteer party will gather to make final preparations to the ground for the exciting season ahead.
To help raise funds to support the refurbishment, eight players have set themselves a testing challenge of riding bikes from Dinton Cricket Club in Wiltshire to Dinton Cricket Club in Buckinghamshire, a journey of almost 100 miles.
The fundraising ride will take place on Easter weekend April 3rd-4th, finishing at the Thame Road ground some time on the Sunday afternoon to a warm Dinton welcome.
If last year was just a flash in the pan, at least the pan this season will be in a lovely new kitchen.
