Gedling Colliery set for overhaul
Preparations are gathering pace at Gedling Colliery Cricket Club ahead of the NatWest CricketForce weekend on March 27 and 28.
The club has already received a lot of interest in the project that will aim to rejuvenate their facilities with a new kitchen, dressing rooms and showers, as well as new roof, practise areas and playing field.
They are now in the final stages of identifying all the resources, materials, people, suppliers and timings for the project, and are keen to hear from potential volunteers.
“This is the first time have been involved in the NatWest CricketForce initiative,” said chairman Mick Fox. “Year on year we have working parties and prepare the ground and pavilion for the season.
“But now with the support of NatWest CricketForce we are able not just to prepare for this season but really make a difference for many years to come.”
NatWest CricketForce is annual volunteering initiative aimed at rejuvenating the nations cricket facilities. In 2009, 85,000 volunteers helped over 1,514 community cricket clubs make a difference to their facilities to the value of £35-£40 million.
