Training Courses for Groundsmen

The ECB has teamed up with The Institute of Groundsmanship to provide a programme of progressive training courses for the management of cricket pitches.

The scheme consists of three levels of structured training offered in four courses (or combined in a single five-day course):

Level One
Part A - Spring Preparation and Summer Maintenance (1 day)
Part B - Autumn Renovation and Winter Maintenance (1 day)

Level Two
Understanding the Science (2 days)

Level Three
Sports Turf Management (2 days)

To gain maximum benefit, it is strongly recommended that individuals should attend the courses in the correct sequence.

Who would benefit from these courses?

The courses are suitable for you whether you are a club groundsman, volunteer, school groundsman or contractor.

You will learn how to:

  • Improve your practical skills as a cricket groundsman
  • Understand the science of maintenance needed to provide a safe and consistent square
  • Implement the management practices needed to ensure a professionally organised facility

You will receive:

  • Tuition from a fully qualified instructor
  • A full set of resource materials and an attendance certificate
