Lift off for NatWest CricketForce
The 2008 vintage of NatWest CricketForce promises to be one to remember judging by the launch event of this year's weekend-long extravaganza - as England's Ravi Bopara and Charlotte Edwards joined a throng of volunteers at Hertford CC.
NatWest CricketForce 2008 has attracted a record 1,375 clubs, up 225 on last year, with 85,000 volunteers - 5,000 up on 2007 - taking part, bringing an estimated £35-£40 million in cash and kind into the recreational game, an increase of up to £5million on last year.
And the Hertford experience bears out the figures as the town turned out in force at the Balls Park ground to get stuck into the jobs at hand, see the cricketing stars, and generally enjoy their day, with the benefit of some warm April sunshine.
You can find out more about the work going on at Hertford by watching the exclusive video on ECBtv, which also features interviews with Bopara and Edwards, catching them in action of more of a DIY than cricketing nature, and showcasing the power of NatWest CricketForce.
