Old Wulfunians embrace the Force
Old Wulfrunians Tettenhall Cricket Club in Wolverhampton has been chosen as this year's NatWest CricketForce Showcase Club for Staffordshire.
Preparation has already begun for the project that will renovate the pavilion on the third team ground at Danescourt Road.
The pavilion has been gutted and is set for rebuilding work to start on the weekend of March 20 and 21.
Old Wulfrunians will be relying on volunteers from the club and the area to help with the project and those interested can contact Dave Unitt on 07979 576022.
Last year’s Staffordshire showcase project was Cheadle Cricket Club that brought in more than £50,000 in goods and work hours.
Unitt said: "We want to recognise the club members that have put up with this facility for too long. This project will breathe new life into the club.”
Staffordshire cricket marketing and funding director Andy Grice said: "We are delighted with the project Old Wulfrunians forwarded to us.
"This will make a real difference at the club to third team and junior cricketers who will now have a quality pavilion for their games.”
Nationally there are more than 1,200 clubs now registered with the hope of reaching more than 1,600.
