Purley gates open for CricketForce
More than 75 volunteers turned out at Purley on Thames Cricket Club last weekend to help give the pretty ground a makeover as part of NatWest CricketForce.
Adult and junior members dragged along family and friends to help restore sightscreens, paint the pavilion and benches, and repair the nets all in time for the forthcoming season.
The hardy bunch were joined by ECB Cricket Development Manager Mark Roche and Berkshire Chairman Cecil Fright who brought along his minor county outfit.
Club chairman Martin Bishop was delighted with the response from members.
"NatWest CricketForce encourages cricket supporters, players, their friends and families to give something back to their local community cricket club by volunteering to undertake work to clubhouses and grounds," he said.
"We had a fantastic turnout with over 75 adults, juniors, friends and families helping with the variety of tasks."
