Ross unites for NWCF
Cricket and football came together as Ross CC launched their 2011 season with a successful NatWest CricketForce event.
More than 130 volunteers, including players from Ross Juniors and Ross United football clubs, lent a hand last weekend to give the Ross Sports Centre a makeover.
Club members were joined by staff from the local branch of NatWest and volunteers from the Probation Service as they carried out ground maintenance and pitch preparations as well as cleaning and repairing the pavilion.
Local MP Jesse Norman, who joined the working party which helped transform the changing room, said: “This is just my sort of thing.”
Ross chairman David Warwick said: “It really was an extremely good turnout which shows the goodwill of the people of Ross. It was a fantastic example of how sporting communities can work together to achieve remarkable results.
“Everyone worked so hard, there was plenty of friendly banter and of course a great sense of achievement at the end of the afternoon.
“We’d like to thank everyone who gave up their free time to help. It was a great event and we will all benefit from the work done.”
