Rugby on the ball for NWCF
Warwickshire showcase club Rugby Cricket Club were blessed with a glorious sunny day as they carried out their NatWest CricketForce duties last weekend.
More than 50 volunteers turned up for a day of cleaning, painting, assembling, repairing and preparing the ground and wicket for the coming season.
The club had a really enjoyable day, with Charlie Robards excelling on the barbeque and the day’s organiser, Chris Evans, impressing with some extreme vacuuming in the rafters of the pavilion.
Many essential tasks were accomplished, proving the value of the scheme in terms of assembling volunteers and members.
Warwickshire County Cricket Club professionals Sam Haine and Ateeq Javid came to Webb Ellis Road to help out and enjoyed playing some impromptu Kwik Cricket games with Rugby’s under-11s and under-13s as well as getting their hands dirty with a bit of painting.
The club would like to thank all the players, members and families who helped out, as well as Jewson Builders Merchants who provided the essential materials for the day.
