Seminar for groundsmen at flood-affected clubs
Pitchcare and the ECB are inviting cricket groundsmen from across the UK whose pitches have been affected by the recent flooding to attend a seminar at Yorkshire CCC’s Headingley Carnegie Stadium on Wednesday August 29 from 9.30am until 3.00pm.
This informal event is free and all groundsmen, volunteer and professional, are welcome.
Jeff Perris from the Sports Turf Research Institute will offer guidance on dealing with the after-effects of pollution and contamination before pitch advisor Alan Lewis delivers a presentation on renovating after flooding.
ECB National Facilities Manager Bruce Cruse will then provide information on accessing funding before ECB Pitches Consultant Chris Wood, Tim Packwood, Head Groundsman at Worcestershire CCC (subject to availability) and the other speakers take questions and answers.
There will then be an opportunity to mix informally with other groundsmen and your County Pitch Advisors. Refreshments and lunch will be provided and after lunch there may be an opportunity to tour the Headingley ground.
The timetable for the day will be:
9.30am Tea and coffee in the indoor school
10.00am Seminar begins in the Lewis Jones Suite (Jeff Perris & Alan Lewis)
12 noon Lunch
1.00pm Seminar continues (Tim Packwood & Bruce Cruse)
1.45pm Questions and Answers chaired by Chris Wood and meet your Pitch Advisors
