Sparkle returns to Purley

Purley Cricket Club members and sponsors dug deep to help raise more than £16,000 in cash and kind during NatWest CricketForce weekend.

Dozens of volunteers descended on the Surrey-based club to help with the grassroots initiative which saw more than 1,500 clubs sign up this year.

"Amongst all the financial benefits derived from CricketForce, I would not underestimate the community value," said chairman Andy Sugarman.

"We choose to focus on our second ground, the facilities of which are shared by various local groups, all of whom benefit from our endevours and the generous sponsorship we attracted.

"The effort will therefore be used and appreciated year round and helps to forge Purley's links with the community.

"Once again many thanks to all involved."
