Minister samples CricketForce
Minister for Sport Richard Caborn is keen to roll up his sleeves and get stuck in to help Shiregreen CC with their NatWest CricketForce event on Sunday April 9.
Caborn will be joining half a dozen Yorkshire first-teamers, a lot of local volunteers and officials from ECB including chief executive David Collier as the Sheffield club look to give themselves a major pre-season overhaul.
"Volunteering events like this are crucial in enabling clubs and their supporters to build a real community around a sports club - from cleaning the clubhouse to washing the kit, everyone can feel like they are a part of the team," said Caborn.
"We know that people, by giving their time and expertise, can make a huge impact on the lives of others and that’s why we take volunteering very seriously - it’s why I’ll be out helping on Sunday - and it's why the Government is investing £150 million into volunteering.
"Volunteers are at the very heart of what makes our sporting nation so successful - and I encourage initiatives like this which bring communities together for the good of sport."
