Witham to showcase NWCF 2011
Witham Cricket Club in Essex has been chosen as one of two national showcase clubs for NatWest CricketForce 2011, with their big day on Friday 8 April.
Derbyshire outfit Sawley & Long Eaton Park is the other showcase club with a third to be named soon.
CricketForce attracted 1,642 clubs this year with 85,000 volunteers and the programme is on course to increase that number in 2011.
Witham are seeeking support from the community to improve the facilities and increase the number of volunteers within the club.
A presentation seminar is scheduled for Tuesday 12 October at Witham Football Club, starting at 7pm.
Previous showcase clubs have attracted between 200 and 400 people on the day/weekend and a number of businesses. This has led to many facility improvements; examples can be found on www.ecb.co.uk/natwestcricketforce.
Witham are seeking to make improvements in a Groundforce meets Changing Rooms style event, where members complete tasks with the help of volunteers and local tradesmen who give up their time to support this worthy cause.
It is likely that male and female England players will attend to support us along with Essex players. The ECB, Essex Cricket Board and NatWest will also be providing staff.
All help is welcome. For more information please contact Graham Pryke on email@example.com
