Wizards of Osborne Street
Wolverton Town got their teeth into NatWest CricketForce as more than 60 volunteers helped give their Osborne Street ground an annual makeover.
The Milton Keynes-based club are normally pelted by showers when they attempt their yearly DIY session, but, blessed by the sun, the volunteers dived into a series of chores to get the ground ready for the new season.
On Saturday, 40 club members, armed with materials sourced by Howard Gillions, busied themselves painting and gardening as well as laying slabs and kerb stones. The nets were also put back up thanks to an army of youngsters.
The following day, 12 NatWest staff members joined a hardy bunch to finish off the jobs which included painting the inside and outside of the scorebox as well as the benches around the ground.
NatWest also donated £1,000 - a sum which helped out with paint, numbers for the scorebox, sheet for the sightscreen and food for the hardworking volunteers.
While the club were delighted with the turnout, they have grand ambitions for next year which includes building a new pavilion, equipment shed, changing toom and electronic scoreboard.
