Cricket Foundation
The Cricket Foundation is fully registered as a Charitable Trust. As such is it bound by a Declaration of Trust that ensures the funding received is allocated for Charitable purposes in the pursuit of cricket.
The Foundation launched the Chance to shine programme in May 2005, aiming to raise £50 million to fund cricket programmes and competition over ten years.
Foundation funding
The three key areas eligible for funding are:
- The organisation or provision of facilities which will enable and encourage young persons in any part of the British Isles to play cricket
- Young persons at Schools and Universities
- The organisation or provision of facilities for persons who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, poverty of social and economic circumstances
The following are specific areas for which funding can be allocated as per the Declaration of Trust:
- To provide full-time or part-time courses for young persons and coaches
- To promote courses for the purpose of training teachers in the coaching of cricket
- To provide for the delivery and holding of conferences and practical demonstrations
- To prepare training programmes and courses with education bodies
- To lay out, equip and maintain playing fields (including Non Turf Pitches and Practice Pitches) or appropriate Indoor Facilities
- To provide appropriate cricket equipment
- To promote or organise cricket matches, competitions or tournaments
The Trustees have determined that as a matter of prime policy the majority of available funding will be awarded annually to County Boards across the spectrum of grassroots, junior and youth cricket.
Each specific area of activity funded by the Cricket Foundation meets one or more of the above terms of reference and has been specifically decided upon by Trustees to best ensure the widest possible development of the game.
