Pedmore among clubs leading the way in NatWest CricketForce planning

Pedmore CC in Worcestershire have secured an incredible array of support and donations from local businesses – all helping to boost their NatWest CricketForce 2005 event.

So far the club have managed to acquire a new top of the range kitchen worth £3000, and a stainless steel top of the range stove worth £2500; but those are only the headline items in a long list of successes.

Mark Ashbourne from Pedmore CC explained: “Our event is well under way, with initial work on many of the projects already started.

“We have had a number of articles in the local newspapers and have contacted a number of local businesses. The offers of help and support we have received are staggering, and we are still in discussions with a number of others.”

In addition to the kitchen and stove, Pedmore have also been given:

  • kitchen utensils - value £1000
  • paint to do both the inside and outside of the clubhouse, the sightscreens, scorebox and metal work around the club - value £800
  • paint brushes, rollers, wire brushes, white spirits etc - value £200
  • renovation and reclaiming of bench and viewing area - value £1000

The club have been successful not only in signing up local companies to assist them, but importantly also lining up volunteers to help turn theory into practice come CricketForce weekend.

Manor Kitchens, Kitchen Manor, Trade Paint Services, Allen Decorators and the Bullock family are among those providing the donations, while Pedmore have volunteers coming on Saturday April 2 from Kingswinford & Stourbridge Lions Club, Pedmore Fields Residents Association, Pedmore Men’s Club, and Pedmore 1st Scouts.
And to make sure their CricketForce day is one to remember, Pedmore are throwing an official opening party welcoming representatives from all the businesses supporting the event, local Mayor Malcolm Knowles, local MP Debra Shipley, Councillors Robert Wilson, Les Jones and Ian Kettle – as well, of course, all of those helping with the work on the day.

Stuart Lampitt, Cricket Development Officer for Worcestershire, said: “It’s great to see Pedmore’s NatWest CricketForce 2005 event is proving a real success. It’s no doubt a reward for all their hard work and commitment and is a real example of CricketForce good practice.
“It’s great news, and we hope all goes well and Pedmore have a great weekend!”
