Highway going the right way

With NatWest CricketForce weekend looming large in many cricket clubs' calendars, Highway decided to get in some much-needed preparation ahead of the big event.

The Warwickshire-based team are one of five ECB Showcase Clubs for this year's NatWest CricketForce and their members are keen to make sure they get the most out of the event.

Highway CC

With just weeks until NatWest CricketForce, Highway CC have given themselves a headstart

On February 16, a large group of members, both young and old, decamped at the ground and demolished the old lean-to and, with the help of their local HSS Hire Centre also dug out the patio - some 200 square metres.

NatWest CricketForce encourages cricket supporters, their friends and families to give something back to their local community cricket club by volunteering to undertake major renovations to clubhouses and grounds.

Last year attracted a record 1,375 clubs (225 up on 2007), 85,000 volunteers (5,000 up on 2007) and an estimated £35-£40 million in cash and kind (an increase of up to £5million on the previous year).

Those figures are expected to rise again this year.
