NatWest CricketForce 2005

More than 665 clubs all over the country took part in NatWest CricketForce 2005 - in what the ECB believes to be the biggest volunteering event ever staged.

ECB hoped to attract over 10,000 volunteers to participate in the NatWest CricketForce weekend, on April 2-3 2005 - but believe that up to five times that many may actually have taken part.

CricketForce is an initiative developed as part of the ECB's Natwest Volunteer programme - with ECB encouraging cricket clubs throughout England and Wales to undertake major renovations to their clubhouses and grounds.

Lee Bailey, NatWest Sponsorship Manager, commented: "2005 is a particularly proud year for NatWest as we celebrate supporting English cricket for 25 Years and together with the ECB we fully recognise the valuable contribution made by volunteers to the development of cricket in this country."

ECB also received funding for CricketForce from Sportsmatch, the government-funded scheme set up to help fund grass roots and community sports in England which matches new sponsorship money with Sportsmatch funding, on a pound for pound basis.
