NatWest CricketForce came two weeks early for the distinguished members of the Old Northamptonians Cricket Club who were supporting the initiative for the first time.
Umpire Peter Willey, the former England and Northamptonshire spinner teamed up with his son David, a spinner with the Northamptonshire Academy and a host of others to prepare their Club for the 2008 season.
As a multi-sports ground, it is not always possible to undertake a project such as NatWest CricketForce on the official UK date but undeterred, the ONs decided to undertake the first of several smaller events during Easter weekend.
They braved snow showers and gale force winds to collect rubbish, trim the artificial wicket and scrape old paint off walls in a major clearing up campaign ahead of their first Northamptonshire Cricket League match later this month.
NatWest CricketForce encourages cricket supporters, their friends and families to give something back to their local community cricket club by volunteering to undertake major renovations to clubhouses and grounds.
A record 1180 clubs have already registered to take part in NatWest CricketForce 2008 the first weekend in April.
