Transplant Ashes details announced

Great Britain Transplant CC

The GB Transplant team will play a two-day Ashes 'Test' at Tynemouth, starting on June 30, and a one-day international at Dulwich on July 6

The Great Britain Transplant Cricket Club have announced the dates of this summer’s Transplant Ashes against their Australian counterparts.

Tynemouth CC will host a two-day 'Test', starting on June 30, and the teams will then do battle in a one-day international at Dulwich CC on July 6.

The GBTCC is the representative side for players in the UK who have had life-saving organ and tissue transplants.

The first Transplant Ashes were won by Australia on home soil in 2004, with Great Britain regaining the David Hookes Memorial Shield in the return meeting two years later.

An open invite training session is to be held at Edgbaston Cricket Centre on May 8, followed by the GBTCC AGM.

The club will also be taking part in a fundraising event on June 11, which will see members walk the 42-mile journey from Old Trafford Cricket Ground to Headingley Carnegie.
