Graeme Swann

Graeme Swann's particiation in the one-day series has been ended by knee and back injuries. He will return home shortly

Off-spinner Graeme Swann has been ruled out of the remainder of England’s tour of Australia due to a back strain.

Swann has missed the last two one-day internationals in the seven-match Commonwealth Bank Series due to a knee injury that has responded well to treatment.

He will return to the UK shortly to continue his rehabilitation and recovery and is expected to be fully fit ahead of next month's ICC Cricket World Cup.

Swann said: “It's frustrating to return home from the tour early but the priority for me now is the World Cup and getting my body right so that I am able to play an important role for England throughout the tournament.

“I will be following the rest of the series and hope to see England put in some positive performances over the next fortnight. I’ve had the time of my life over here and bringing back the Ashes is something that will always stay with me.”
