Clarke and Soper nominated
The ECB announced that it has received nominations from two candidates to succeed the current ECB chairman, David Morgan, who is to become ICC president next year.
The Somerset chairman Giles Clarke and the ECB deputy chairman Michael Soper will now contest a ballot of all the first-class county chairmen and the chairman of MCC.
The ballot - to be conducted by the Electoral Reform Services - is to be circulated to the chairmen of the first-class counties and MCC on July 30 and will close on August 13.
When one candidate is identified, that person’s name will be put to the full membership of ECB for endorsement with the final result due to be announced on August 28.
David Morgan is due leave his post on September 30 and take up his position as ICC president in June 2008.
The new ECB chairman will take office with effect from October 1, 2007 with the chairmanship running through to March 31, 2009.
