Jade Dernbach is looking forward to taking part in the Big Bash League. "I jumped at the opportunity to join the (Melbourne) Stars," he revealed

The ECB today announced that England and Surrey seamer Jade Dernbach will join Australian Twenty20 side Melbourne Stars for the Big Bash League.

The Big Bash starts on December 16 and concludes with the final on January 28 2012. Dernbach is available for the entire competition, but will be released for international duty if selected for England during that period.

Dernbach said: "I jumped at the opportunity to join the Stars for the 2011-12 Big Bash. With the BBL being revamped this year everyone is looking at the tournament with great anticipation and I'm delighted to be taking part.

“With the recently announced signing of Shane Warne, plus the likes of (Cameron) White, (David) Hussey and (Peter) Siddle in the squad, I know we are going to be the team to watch in this competition."

Dernbach will link up with Sussex all-rounder Luke Wright in Melbourne. Former England one-day and Twenty20 captain Paul Collingwood (Perth Scorchers), Owais Shah (Hobart Hurricanes) and Michael Lumb (Sydney Sixers) are also set to participate in the competition.
