ECB to trial digital advertising boards
The England & Wales Cricket Board today announced that they will trial use of digital advertising boards at the ‘Cardiff double header’ - where England play South Africa in the NatWest one-day international on Friday August 24, and Friends Life t20 finals day on Saturday August 25 at the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff.
Digital advertising boards are now commonplace in football, and the ECB is exploring the technology for the benefit of its commercial partners.
The digital displays will remain static when the bowler begins his run up, and switch to moving displays once the ball is dead - so as to not distract the players on the field. The boards will cover almost the entire perimeter, but will not be in place directly in line with the playing strip.
Mark Pearce, head of commercial partnerships at the ECB, said: "Digital advertising boards are a great tool for our commercial partners to offer more engaging branding to fans watching in the stadium and at home on Sky Sports HD.
"We are excited to be testing the technology at these two high-profile fixtures in the cricket calendar."
