The ECB Women's Development side celebrate the run out of Lynne Dickenson in their comfortable win over Scotland today
Kathryn Doherty and Fran Wilson led the ECB Women’s Development side to a crushing victory over Scotland in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier competition.
After winning the toss for the ECB side, Jo Cook put Scotland into bat favouring her bowlers on the damp wicket.
A solid opening partnership with the ball from Deanna Cooper and Beth Langston saw the hosts struggle under pressure and fail to build the runs.
Yorkshire’s Doherty was on form taking 3-15 and was backed up well in the field by Langston, who removed Lynne Dickenson for a duck with a direct hit.
Scotland never looked like building a good score and were all out for 115.
After losing the unfortunate wicket of Alice MacLeod who was run out in the second over, Doherty, unbeaten on 49, and Wilson, 53 not out, formed an unstoppable partnership to knock off the total in just under 20 overs.
After the game, Doherty said: “I found the wicket had dried out quite a bit when I got out there which made batting conditions slightly easier for us.
"Fran and I built a strong partnership by punishing the bad balls and running well together. I really enjoyed it out there”
Wilson added: “Today was a great opportunity for us to get back on track and perform to our potential.
"It was satisfying to have a positive contribution to the team’s win.”
The ECB Development XI will play Ireland at New Williamfield, Stirling tomorrow.
This fixture is rescheduled from Tuesday August 10 and will be their final match of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifying Championships.
