ECB reveals chairman nominations
The England and Wales Cricket Board has received two nominations for the role of chairman beginning on April 1, 2009.
The present chairman Giles Clarke has been proposed by Nottinghamshire and seconded by Northamptonshire and Middlesex. Lord Marland of Odstock has been proposed by Lancashire and seconded by Hampshire and Leicestershire.
Election papers will be sent out by the Electoral Reform Society on Monday January 26, 2009 and the confidential ballot will close on Monday February 9, 2009.
The ballot result will be then announced on Tuesday February 10, 2009. Eligible to vote in this election are the chairmen of the 18 first-class counties and the MCC.
The preferred candidate will go forward for election by the full membership of the ECB, which, including non-first-class counties, totals 41. That process will end on February 24, 2009 with the result announced on February 25, 2009.
A simple majority is needed to secure victory.
