The England head coach, Peter Moores, today announced that players selected for the England one-day squad will be available to their counties for the first round of matches in the Twenty20 Cup on Wednesday, June 11.
Eleven members of the squad will play in the competition before reporting for England duty in Manchester on Thursday, June 12. They are:
Paul Collingwood (Durham) v Derbyshire
James Anderson (Lancashire) v Leicestershire
Tim Ambrose, Ian Bell (Warwickshire) v Glamorgan
Alastair Cook & Ravi Bopara (Essex) v Surrey
Dimitri Mascarenhas, Kevin Pietersen & Chris Tremlett (Hampshire) v Middlesex
Owais Shah (Middlesex) v Hampshire
Luke Wright (Sussex) v Kent
Moores said: “We have a quick turnaround between the end of the npower Test series and the start of The NatWest Series and we felt that the best way for the players to prepare for the series was by playing T20 cricket for their counties.
“The players enjoy the T20 format and this will be an excellent opportunity for them to gain valuable match practice and sample the excitement and atmosphere generated by our own domestic T20 competition.”
