ECB delays naming England squad
The England selectors will announce on Monday the England Lions squad to face West Indies at Derby, starting on April 30, but have decided not to select the England squad for the first npower Test match until later in the month.
Geoff Miller, national selector, said yesterday: “The selectors have met but have decided that we need more time to assess players who are returning after injury.
“We also felt that by delaying the selection for the fist npower Test match it allowed us the opportunity to see another round of LV= County Championship matches before deciding on the squad.”
The England squad for the npower Test matches will now be announced on April 29 with the squad and captain for the ICC World Twenty20 to be revealed on May 1, along with the squad for the three NatWest one-day internationals against West Indies.
