Five penalised under ECB code
The England and Wales Cricket Board today confirmed that Jade Dernbach, Grant Flower, Paul Harrison, Albie Morkel and Steven Patterson have received penalties under the ECB’s discipline code.
Dernbach, Morkel and Patterson were each reported for a Level Two breach of the code (bowling an accidental high full pitched delivery that resulted in the bowler being disallowed from bowling further in the innings).
Dernbach was reported by umpires David Millns and Richard Illingworth during Surrey Lions’ Friends Provident t20 match against Hampshire Royals on June 13.
Morkel was reported by umpires Jeff Evans and John Steele during Durham Dynamos’ FP t20 match against Nottinghamshire Outlaws on June 20.
Patterson was reported by umpires Nick Cook and Richard Kettleborough during Yorkshire Carnegie’s FP t20 match against Leicestershire Foxes on the same day.
These three players have all received three penalty points, which will remain on their records for a period of two years. The accumulation of nine or more penalty points in any two year period will result in an automatic suspension.
Flower was reported by umpires Michael Gough and Rob Bailey during Essex Eagles’ FP t20 match against Somerset Sabres on June 16 for a Level One breach of the code (using language that is obscene, offensive or insulting and/or making an obscene gesture).
Harrison was reported by umpires David Millns and Roy Collins during a Second XI friendly match between Kent/Northants and Yorkshire on June 15-18 for a Level One breach of the code (abuse of cricket ground, equipment or fixtures/fittings).
These two players have received reprimands, which will remain on their records for a period of two years. Any further Level One breach during that period will result in an automatic imposition of three penalty points.
