Friends Life t20 finals day to be best yet
A tremendous spectacle is in store for fans attending this Saturday's Friends Life t20 finals day in Cardiff where Hampshire, Somerset, Sussex and Yorkshire will do battle for the 2012 FLt20 trophy.
To celebrate the competition's 10th anniversary, renowned performance artistes Cirque Bijou will be unveiling their very own spectacular audio and visual tribute in the pre-final interval - a specially commissioned work entitled 'T20 Tremendium'.
The company, whose three-day extravaganza 'Battle for the Winds' recently provided the theatrical backdrop for the London 2012 Olympic sailing events at Weymouth and Portland, will also be inviting 10 volunteers to join them on the pitch on Saturday and be part of a 50-strong cast.
It is all part of an exciting entertainment package to accompany the cricketing action on Saturday, which will also involve 8,000 hard hats being given away to the four sets of supporters - each in their team's individual colours.
Comedian Rory Bremner, who launched the ECB's Something Completely Different promotional campaign for the competition earlier this year, will be on hand to inject fun and laughter into the match-day experience and will co-host the ever-popular mascot race with Sky Sports commentator David 'Bumble' Lloyd.
Rory and Bumble will be joined by the BBC's Chris Hollins and Sky Sports News presenter Charlotte Jackson, who will jointly act as event hosts on a day when the emphasis will be firmly on fun with fans encouraged to don fancy dress as part of the celebrations.
The live action can be followed on Sky Sports 1 HD from 10.30am and on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra from 10.45am. Fans can also visit www.ecb.co.uk/news/domestic/friends-life-t20 for the latest information on the day.
Steve Elworthy, ECB director of marketing and communications, said: "We pride ourselves on providing fans with the best possible mix of cricketing action and off-field entertainment on Friends Life t20 finals day - and this year promises to be the best yet.
“With dance, music and comedy providing the backdrop to three great cricketing contests, this will be a truly fitting way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the competition."
