The England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed that Gloucestershire's Anthony Ireland has received three penalty points under the ECB’s discipline code following an incident during Gloucestershire’s Friends Provident Trophy match against Somerset on Sunday May 11 2008.
Ireland was reported by umpires Nigel Llong and Barrie Leadbeater for a level two breach of the code (bowling an accidental high full pitched delivery that resulted in the bowler being disallowed from bowling further in the innings).
The penalty points remain on Ireland’s record for a period of two years. The accumulation of nine or more penalty points in any two-year period will result in an automatic suspension.
