The England and Wales Cricket Board today confirmed that Hampshire’s Hamza Riazuddin has received a penalty under the ECB’s discipline code.

During the Second XI Championship match between Sussex and Hampshire on August 14-16 2012, Riazuddin was reported by umpires Ben Debenham and Mark Newell for a Level One breach of the code (using language that is obscene, offensive or insulting).

As this incident is within 24 months of a previous offence, Riazuddin has received a three-point penalty. This penalty will remain on his record for a period of two years and the accumulation of nine or more penalty points in any two-year period will result in an automatic suspension.
