2010 Second XI fixtures confirmed

The ECB today announced the full list of fixtures for the Second XI Championship and Second XI Trophy.

Winners of the 2009 Second XI Championship, Surrey will begin the defence of their title on April 21 against Middlesex, while current Second XI Trophy Champions Yorkshire will face Nottinghamshire on April 27 as they begin their bid to retain the trophy.

The Second XI Championship: The 18 first-class counties, MCC Young Cricketers and MCC Universities have been divided into two groups of ten teams. Teams will play every other member in their group once in a three-day match. The winners of each group will play in a four-day final scheduled for September 7.

The Second XI Trophy: The 18 first-class counties, MCC Young Cricketers and Minor Counties have been divided into two groups of ten teams. Teams will play every other member in their group once in a 50-over match with the top two teams in each group qualifying for the semi finals which are scheduled for the August 30 with the final taking place on September 13.

In addition counties will play extra three or four-day matches throughout the season. There will be 47 matches in addition to those scheduled as part of the Second XI Championship and Second XI Trophy.
