Women's World Cup screened on Sky
Sky Sports will televise six games live from the forthcoming ICC Women’s World Cup which runs in New South Wales, Australia from March 7-22.
England Women are currently deep in preparations in their quest to lift the coveted trophy with the remaining squad members and management heading out to Australia on Thursday February 19.
If England win their group, which includes India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, and make the final they will feature no less than five times over the course of the tournament.
Charlotte Edwards, England’s inspirational captain and current ICC Women’s Player of the Year, was commented: “It’s fantastic news that Sky Sports are going to televise five group games from the World Cup. It’s the first time this many games will have been televised in my playing career and I think it’s really exciting.
“It will be great exposure for the players and the sport and will hopefully build the profile as we head into the ICC World Twenty20 and the npower women’s Ashes this summer.
“It’s the first time the World Cup will come under the ICC umbrella and I honestly do think it’s going to be one of the best global tournaments given the continually improving standards of the teams involved. Each team is going from strength to strength so it’s going to be the most competitive World Cup we’ve seen for a while.
“The fact that it’s on Sky Sports will also offer those people at home who unfortunately can’t come out to Australia the opportunity to see us in action and support us from home.”
