The Electoral Reform Society today informed the ECB that Nottinghamshire chairman Peter Wright has been nominated by the first-class counties and the MCC as their candidate for the post of chairman of cricket.
In a ballot, Mr Wright received 10 votes while Tim O’Gorman received nine votes.
Under the electoral process, Mr Wright’s nomination will require formal endorsement by the full ECB membership with the deadline for completion being March 1 2010.
The chairman of cricket is a member of the ECB management board. The current post-holder is the former Lancashire chairman Jack Simmons, who decided to retire after many distinguished years of service to the game as a player and administrator.
