David Edwards

ECB ACO regrets to announce that David Edwards, Surrey ACO Chairman and an Honorary Life Member of ECB ACO, collapsed and died this morning.
David qualified as an umpire in 1970 and stood in over 2000 matches, including International ‘A’ ODI’s, since the introduction of the Umpires Panel in 1987.

Having served for 29 years as Surrey’s Secretary/Appointments Officer, he most recently held the role of Secretary for the Surrey Championship.

David was an examiner for ACU&S for many years and was the driving force behind the formation of Surrey ACO, which is now the third largest in the country. He was Chairman of SCB ACO and was awarded a National OSCA in 2010.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Virginia and his family.
