ECB ACO membership hits 5,000 mark

Michael Sparks will rub shoulders with some of the top officials in world cricket after he became the 5,000th member of the new ECB Association of Cricket Officials.

Sparks, from Carlisle, has been handed an all-expenses-paid trip to the Lord's Test against South Africa, which starts on Thursday July 10.

Sparks will travel to the home of cricket the day before the game where he will have a tour around the ground before meeting the officials for the Test, Darryl Harper, Billy Bowden and Jeff Crowe.

The ECB ACO was established on January 1 to support umpires and scorers throughout England and Wales. It is an amalgamation of the Association of Umpires and Scorers (ACU&S) and the ECB Officials Association (ECB OA).
