Young Officials

ECB Association of Cricket Officials

The England and Wales Cricket Board Association of Cricket Officials is continuing to support the ongoing role that Young Officials can play in the game.

ECB ACO continue to encourage and develop the next generation of umpires and scorers to officiate at all levels of cricket.

Young Umpire

Following a successful recruiting campaign in 2012, ECB ACO will support the next group of budding umpires and scorers, giving them the opportunity to progress through the ACO education pathway.

Available this season, for teachers, coaches and parents, are introductory programmes entitled ‘Introduction to Umpiring’ and ‘Introduction to Scoring’ which can be sent to schools and clubs on request from your regional or county ACO.

This provides the opportunity to educate a wider number of young cricket enthusiasts about the basics of umpiring and scoring and could act as a great platform for their development.

The programmes will be facilitated at your club by parents, coaches or ACO County Officers. For those keen to progress you are encouraged to look at the county, regional and national courses in officiating.
