It has come to the ECB’s attention that members of the public are being contacted about a so-called “2012 Mobile Promotion” by fraudulent third parties who are operating from the email addresses email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org and who are holding themselves out as representatives of the ECB.
There is no such ECB promotion and the senders of the emails do not have any legitimate association whatsoever with the ECB. This is a fraudulent activity and it has been reported by the ECB to the police authorities.
If you have received any such communication, please forward the communication to the Phishing Department of Action Fraud, the UK’s national fraud reporting centre operated by the UK’s National Fraud Authority, by sending an email to email@example.com.
If you have any other relevant information that might be useful to a criminal investigation into these activities, please contact the Phishing Department of Action Fraud, by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 0300 123 204.
