Mitchell ton defeats Bangladesh A
Daryl Mitchell hit a century as Worcestershire beat Bangladesh A by six wickets at New Road.
The tourists posted 274 for eight, but Mitchell’s second List A hundred set his side on their way to a victory they completed with 15 balls to spare.
Bangladesh A won the toss and elected to bat as they chased their first win of their tour in their fifth and final warm-up match ahead of facing England Lions.
Anamul Haque hit eight fours and three sixes in his 110 as the visitors began strongly. When his fellow opener Shamsur Rahman departed at the start of the 15th over, they had contributed 77.
Shaaiq Choudhry eventually got rid of Anamul in the 39th over, en route to figures of 3-35.
Mominul Haque made 64, while Naeem Islam hit an unbeaten 47 from 35 balls as Bangladesh set a challenging target.
Worcestershire’s reply got off to a flying start with Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Mitchell reaching 97 before the former was bowled by Elias Sunny three runs short of his half-century.
Mitchell’s next partner, Alexei Kervezee, also reached the 40s before falling five short of a fifty with the score 189 for two.
The skipper then pressed on and brought up a 99-ball ton with a four off Sunny.
He was dismissed by Sohag Gazi three balls later but Tom Fell’s unbeaten 42 helped the hosts over the line.
