Dilshan keeps Sri Lanka top of the pile

Tillakaratne Dilshan's superb 74 not out helped Sri Lanka retain their place at the top of the Twenty20 rankings with a six-wicket victory against South Africa in Hambantoto.

The Proteas had already clinched the series having won the first two fixtures in the three-match rubber, responding strongly following their 4-1 drubbing in the one-day internationals.

Their bid for a clean sweep was boosted when they managed a tally of 163 for three from their 20 overs, as skipper Francois du Plessis and JP Duminy starred with 85 and 51 respectively.

Dilshan did most of the work for the hosts in reply as he blasted his unbeaten score off 51 balls, with opening partner Mahela Jayawardene making 33 off 16 deliveries to get their run-chase off to blistering start.

From that point on Sri Lanka always looked likely winners, with Thisara Perera joining Dilshan and notching an unbeaten 25 to finish the job with 11 balls to spare and ensure his side remain above Pakistan in the standings for the game's shortest format.
